EJ Olson is a white gender-queer person from Empire, Michigan. At the time of this interview, Olson was working as the Clinical Operations Director at Family Tree Clinic. In this oral history they talk about growing up in a small town, language about identity, their experiences with performance art, and working at Family Tree Clinic. They also touch upon topics such as conversion therapy, riot grrrl feminism in Pittsburgh during 1997 and onward, passing, and the policing of public bathrooms.
