An interview with Erica Anderson, a white trans woman and clinical psychologist. At the time of this interview, she was President of the U.S. Professional Association for Transgender Health (USPATH,) served on the board of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH,) and worked at the Child and Adolescent Gender Center at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF.) In this oral history interview, Anderson discusses the history of trans health care and the evolution of clinical understandings of trans identity, referencing both her personal experiences and the larger trend toward depathologization and informed consent. She offers her thoughts on the history, current state, and future trajectory of trans health care and the professional organizations that set its standards.
