Digital Transgender Archive
Melinda Lee is a Cambodian-American, Vietnamese-American, and Chinese-American gender non-conforming, non-binary person from Long Beach, California. At the time of this oral history interview, they were the Assistant Director of the Gender and Sexuality Center for Queer and Trans Life at the University of Minnesota. In the interview, Lee discusses their upbringing in California, their young adult life and queer identity, and their experiences of family relationships, dating, and navigating the professional world as a gender non-conforming, non-binary person. In addition, they discuss their work and volunteer experience with many LGBTQ groups and organizations, as well as their thoughts on queer and trans politics, collective liberation, and radical movements.
