Digital Transgender Archive
Andrea Jenkins is a Black trans-feminine person raised in Chicago. At the time of this interview, she was the Oral Historian for the Tretter Transgender Oral History Project. This is the first of two interviews with Jenkins held in Phase 1. In this oral history, Andrea Jenkins and Rox Anderson talk at length about growing up in the west side of Chicago, terminology through time, sexuality, workplace discrimination, and encounters with healthcare. Jenkins also touches upon the organizations she has been involved with, her parent's lives, and her familial and romantic relationships.
